Goshen is a rural community in Ohio.  It is a census-designated place with a pastoral ambience and slow pace that is attractive to full time residents as well as weekend warriors.  However, the trade-off is that there are not quite as many amenities and conveniences as some might like.  However, the town’s proximity to Cincinnati allows residents to live a country life while still near enough to drive to important facilities like hospitals and colleges.  Cincinnati is always buzzing with art, music, and literature.  Events are held pretty much every weekend, no matter the season - or the weather.  In short, Cincinnati is the perfect supplement to Goshen life.

Like so many other local communities, Goshen is deeply influenced by the German and Irish settlers who first established homes in the area hundreds of years ago.  Colonists from Germany and Ireland developed communities in the region in the mid to late 19th century. By the beginning of the 20th century, it was heavily occupied with émigrés. The seasonal weather was familiar to the immigrants, and they were able to build farms on the fertile countryside around the area.  German culture, in particular, has become so entrenched within the area’s ethos that most residents take it for granted.  But, upon visiting, it is hard to miss.

It is not hard to see why the residents love this place. The homes are humble and unfussy.  The roads are lined with matured plants.  The overall vibe is one of calm and serenity. Raising kids in a town like Goshen is ideal for families. The schools are small, and educators know their students.  The roads are always active with kids in the summer.  They play ball, go for jogs, and spend time at local parks. In the winter, families spend time sledding, building snow men or simply drinking hot beverages on the front porch.  No matter what, this community is all about the outdoors and nature.
